Come in, sink into my chest
It’s not safe to sleep alone
Lean into my skin and
Blow the dust around the room
The shine we see, the Autumn we smell
Is temporary as a ringing bell
A little thin skinned but the rust will not consume
Oh you prim-lipped keeper
Oh you daytime sleeper
Don’t tangle the vivid with the gray
Sometimes we are the water
But mostly we are the seeds
The art of being fruitless is not a terminal stampede
Neither one would admit
That we’d grown reluctant
Of walking through the door
And waiting for sediment to form
The tide will wash the suffering
The moon is a sad sad song
This red letter day
This is all I know
Will we shine what remains
Or sing a numbing refrain
Will you scale that fence
Despite unknown consequence
There’s been enough said
With fire and leather drum
Everything’s not alright, but chin up little one
The anthem doesn’t match your cheap dress
By the skin of your teeth
You’ve never done your best
The storm wasn’t following it turns out
Bored with sentiment you bend in half
Sinking vacant chest treading in a mess
By the skin of your teeth
You’re useless
Broke the bank, you dug the ditch
You plant the weeds
Make the list, you crash the car
You bottom feed
Squeeze your way into a hole
You burn the trees
Broke the bank, you dug the ditch
You bottom feed
about
LAPêCHE is an indie-rock four-piece that has consistently penned impactful jams outta Brooklyn, New York since 2016. Fronted by singer-guitarist, Krista Holly Diem, with bassist Dave Diem (Twelve Hour Turn), guitarist Drew DeMaio (Asshole Parade, Floor, Strikeforce Diablo) and drummer Jeff Gensterblum (Small Brown Bike, Able Baker Fox), the close friends compose together, drawing inspiration from both past and present, light and dark, guiding Krista Holly’s provocative melodies and lyrics over their uniquely somber, yet catchy indie-rock.
Following their debut album, The Second Arrow, LAPêCHE offers their 2nd EP, Spirit Bunnies. The band again worked closely with J. Robbins, who engineered, produced, played organ and added backing vocals at Magpie Cage Studio in Baltimore. This 3-song EP still has a melancholy 90’s grit with just the right amount of hopefulness.
